Working at local, national and international level, we help build cohesive communities, capable of embracing and valuing diversity, so that everyone, including the most vulnerable people, has access to rights and opportunities. Together we promote pathways of supportempowerment and active participation, with a particular emphasis on guiding young peoplemigrants and women towards independence and full citizenship. Combating inequalities and preventing all forms of exclusion are the starting point for our contribution to shared and lasting social change and the sustainable development of the local areas in which we operate, with a view to fostering peace and solidarity.

Our work is divided into various areas of intervention.

Working together for inclusion

The Working Together for Inclusion Mission contributes to achieving the following Sustainable Development Goals

SDG 1 No poverty
SDG 2 – Zero hunger
SDG 5 Gender equality
SDG 10 Reduce inequalities
SDG 11 Sustainable cities and communities
SDG 12 Responsible consumption and production
SDG 17 Partnerships for the goals

Within the People Goal, the Working Together for Inclusion Mission is committed to supporting initiatives aimed at building integrated responses to the specific needs of certain segments of the population who find themselves in vulnerable situations that could jeopardise their life plans.

Youth empowerment and dynamism

We promote the empowerment and independence of young people, so that their important contribution to society is recognised and valued. We build processes that are shared with local communities, partly by facilitating access for people who are most at risk or facing difficulty, in order to make young people drivers of change.
As regards empowerment, in the sense of enhancing skills and developing individual potential, we develop projects such as  YEPP (Youth Empowerment Partnership Programme), which now operates in 10 countries across Europe and 13 areas of Italy, and N.OMi.S, which offers new opportunities for under-18s of non-Italian origin in Turin.

The GxG-Giovani per i Giovani (young people for young people) call for proposals, designed to make young people drivers of change, through projects proposed by them and implemented in partnership with local bodies, has now reached an advanced stage and is contributing to the feasibility and sustainability of the actions identified. In keeping with the same principle, we have developed a collaboration with the Encouraging Active Participation Mission, under the Culture Goal, on the SparkZ – Giovani che attivano (young catalysts) call for proposals.

Local alliances for the inclusion of people from migrant backgrounds

We support local alliances which, through local planning between multiple actors, build integrated responses to the needs of people from migrant backgrounds or at risk of marginalisation. This enables us to make the most of local potential, facilitate access to rights and opportunities and support people’s dynamism.

Our actions (at local, national and European level) are aimed at promoting dignified, independent life pathways, by providing access to fundamental rights, such as adequate housing, fair job opportunities and educational programmes based on equal opportunities. Examples of this include the initiatives Territori Inclusivi (inclusive places), Fatti RiConoscere! (get yourself recognised), Progetto Migranti (migrants project, under the aegis of ACRI) and EPIM (European Philanthropic Initiative for Migration).

We pay special attention to unaccompanied foreign minors, particularly through the Never Alone initiative, promoted by a line-up of Italian foundations headed by FCSP.
We promote the development of new narratives aimed at building shared futures based on inclusion, partly through collaboration with the Culture Goal.

Support for victims of crime and combating gender-based violence

We endeavour to strengthen local organisations, to enable them to accommodatesupport and offer guidance to victims of crime and violence.
We pay special attention to women who have fallen victim to gender-based violence and we contribute to supporting and road-testing interventions aimed at combating and preventing gender-based violence.

Working together for inclusion also means supporting women who fall victim to violence, and crime victims in general, so that they have access to their rights and know how to exercise them, in order to regain their independence. To do this, we support and strengthen local, national and European networks, with advocacy and the dissemination of good practice. Our support for Telefono Rosa, Casa Rifugio Mariposas and Rete Dafne forms part of these efforts.

Cooperation on sustainable development, global citizenship and peace

In international cooperation and global citizenship education, we support long-term initiatives in partnership with specialist actors from our catchment area and other foundations. These include the Cooperazione decentrata Piemonte & Africa Sub-Sahariana call for proposals (decentralised cooperation between Piedmont and sub-Saharan Africa), promoted in collaboration with the Region of Piedmont, and the Innovazione per lo Sviluppo programme (innovation for development) promoted alongside Fondazione Cariplo.

We support the struggle against malnutrition and the promotion of mother and child health, through the project Prima le Mamme e i bambini (mums and children first), which operates in eight countries across sub-Saharan Africa. We promote food sovereignty and sustainable food systems through JAFOWA (Joint Action for Farmers Organisations in West Africa), an initiative that promotes sustainable, family farming.
