Goal 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.

Major civil and social battles have been fought to achieve gender equality and women’s emancipation but, despite the many milestones reached, too many girls and women still suffer various forms of discrimination and violence across the world.

There are many examples: lack of representation in decision-making and economic processes, reduced access to basic services like health and education, and barriers to decent personal development, for example through decent work and the freedom to determine one’s own path in life. This is a challenge that affects all of humanity.

The predominant contributors to the achievement of SDG (Sustainable Development Goal) 5 are Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo’s Culture Goal and People Goal.
