This Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Policy (hereinafter also referred to as the “Policy”) sets out the principles and commitments of Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo (hereinafter also referred to as the “Foundation”) with regard to diversity, equity and inclusion (hereinafter also referred to as “DEI”).
Diversity, equity, and inclusion are fundamental values of the Foundation. They are key to fostering an open, fair, respectful, and diverse workplace where everyone can fully express their potential.
Diversity characterises individuals in terms of gender, age, abilities, origin, ethnicity, native language, emotional and sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, social status, educational background, health status, family or marital status, beliefs, appearance and any other characteristic that contributes to a person’s uniqueness. Inclusion refers to cultivating an organisational culture in which all individuals feel welcomed, respected, valued and empowered to participate fully and contribute meaningfully. Equity aims to ensure that processes and programmes are objective and impartial, and that they provide equal outcomes for every individual, taking into account their specific characteristics and differences.
DEI principles form an integral part of the Foundation’s values framework, as reflected in its Bylaws and Code of Ethics. In particular, this Policy is closely aligned with the “Fundamental Principles” section of the Code of Ethics and, specifically, with the principles of Human Dignity, Equity and Inclusion. Guided by these principles and in line with applicable legislation and internationally recognised standards, including the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Foundation is committed to:
- ensuring respect for the personal dignity, privacy and rights of all individuals, as well as for the values of equality and fairness;
- promoting inclusion and the ability of individuals to express their uniqueness in the workplace, recognising each person’s distinctiveness and specific qualities as a driver of innovation and a valuable contribution to growth;
- managing human resources on the basis of merit, competence and equal opportunities, ensuring transparent recruitment, evaluation and professional development processes that prevent discrimination and favouritism;
- promoting the development of skills through training, professional growth pathways and development initiatives, encouraging active participation and strengthening internal capabilities;
- promoting diversity, inclusion and gender equality, including through fair remuneration policies and initiatives aimed at supporting equal opportunities in access to positions of responsibility;
- facilitating work-life balance by encouraging flexibility and promoting initiatives that support the reconciliation of professional and personal commitments, recognising such balance as essential to individual well-being;
- ensuring a respectful and safe working environment by combating all forms of discrimination, harassment and conduct that undermine personal dignity, while promoting a culture of dialogue, respect and organisational well-being;
- adopting respectful and non-discriminatory language in all forms of communication;
- sharing and promoting best practices, achievements and positive experiences in the field of DEI;
- promoting DEI principles in its relationships with all stakeholders, encouraging inclusive practices and interactions based on respect for diversity.
The Foundation has developed an organisational structure, strategies and monitoring tools designed to promote the full implementation of this Policy. Every person within the Foundation, regardless of role, is called upon to contribute to the achievement of the commitments set out in this Policy.
Consistent with the commitments established in this Policy, the Foundation has designed and implemented a Gender Equality Management System in accordance with UNI/PdR 125:2022, “Guidelines on the Gender Equality Management System”, and is currently in the process of obtaining the relevant certification.
