From Thursday 9th to Monday 13th May five days full of talks and thoughts on books and reading.
The 32nd International Book Fair returns from Thursday 9th to Monday 13th May 2019 offering talks and thoughts on books and reading, five days in which Turin will host authors and publishers from the world over, providing a useful compass to help find one’s way in these complicated times.
Il gioco del mondo is the title chosen this year to talk about a culture without frontiers or dividing lines, which actually overcomes boundaries, shatters walls and creates. As does the reader of the “counter-novel” by Julio Cortázar, a great master of the 1900s, an immense book that encourages rebellion, escape and adventure as the person reading can choose where to go, what to read or reject.
Compagnia di San Paolo supports the event and has contributed to Bookstock Village, the area specially created for young people which this year is moving to Pavilion 2. This novelty brings the place dedicated to kids and school right into the heart of the fair. Bookstock is one big lab where authors can meet their young readers. Among this year’s guests are: Mechthild Gläser, Delphine Bournay, Patrice Lawrence, Nicky Singer, Sophia Rey, Raúl Nieto Guridi. And to celebrate the landing on the moon get to meet the astronaut and astrophysicist Umberto Guidoni. A party is also planned to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Nati per leggere, the best-known and most widespread national project promoting reading in pre-school age children.
