We support the development of competent, welcoming communities, where self-determination is within everyone’s reach and everyone can contribute to collective prosperity and well-being, partly on the basis of a new vision of health and care as a common good. We contribute to combating material and relational poverty, supporting the culture of solidarity and giving, and building neighbourly support networks and forms of reciprocity and local activation that strengthen the social capital of communities.

Our work is divided into various areas of intervention.

Rediscovering community

The Rediscovering community mission contributes to achieving the following Sustainable Development Goals

SDG 1 No poverty
SDG 2 – Zero hunger
SDG 3 Good health and well-being
SDG 10 Reduce inequalities
SDG 12 Responsible consumption and production
SDG 16 Peace, justice, and strong institutions

The Rediscovering Community Mission forms part of the People Goal and collaborates with Fondazione Ufficio Pio Ente filantropico, one of FCSP’s auxiliary bodies, to help improve the various aspects of people’s lives, by promoting individual resourcefulness and independence.

The polycrisis era we are living through is having a major impact on local communities and their resilience. That is why we believe it is important to help communities acquire skills and organisational tools with which to tackle issues that affect their members and that can be mitigated through solidarity and neighbourly support.

Healthy communities

Physical and mental health is essential to the quality of life of people and communities. That is why we support projects that provide people with effective tools to enjoy full freedom of choice and self-determination, through innovative approaches to the construction of life plans, with a particular focus on the most vulnerable people.

The mental health of the young generation is a priority for the well-being of young people and the future of communities. That is why we have established the Salute, Effetto Comune (health, a common effect) call for proposals that raises the mental health of young people to a shared level, by promoting actions that improve quality of life, and by helping local systems become key players in a new culture of mental health.

Neighbourly support and local activation networks, and local systems for combating poverty

We help local collaboration systems combat the various forms of poverty, starting with food poverty, by systemically revising the supply chain,  to ensure that everyone has uninterrupted access to healthy food, and by viewing local food policies  as a strategic framework for integrating social, economic and environmental dimensions.

As part of these efforts, we have established the B2 = Il bene x bene (good x good) call for proposals, to strengthen local networks for the recovery and redistribution of surpluses and donations of basic necessities, and to develop local systems that help combat poverty by identifying needs, building relationships and formulating solutions.

Dealing effectively with global challenges such as climate change, inequality and the demographic crisis requires  multi-dimensional, cross-sectoral collective actionCommunity foundations are one of possible the tools to promote and enable this paradigm shift, by boosting the building of social infrastructure in local areas.
