Yesterday evening, at the San Tomaso Church in Cuneo, the handover ceremony was held for the new OMNI LEGEND 32 PET/CT, donated by Fondazione Ospedale Cuneo ETS to the Santa Croce e Carle Hospital.

This important milestone marks a step forward for the regional and national healthcare system, which will now be able to benefit from a state-of-the-art machine for diagnosing and treating oncological, neurological, and cardiological diseases.

A result made possible thanks to the PET Project fundraising campaign, launched in 2023, and to the significant contribution made by Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, granted under the 2023-2026 Framework Protocol signed with the Piedmont Region in the field of Health and Well-being.

The OMNI LEGEND 32 PET/CT will allow the Cuneo Hospital to cut waiting lists, while at the same time improving diagnostic accuracy, benefiting a catchment area that extends beyond Piedmont to Lombardy and Liguria.

This action underlined the importance of an integrated approach involving institutions, philanthropic organisations, and civil society.

The handover event, which took place on the evening of 25 November, was attended by Professor Ferruccio Fazio, former Minister of Health, Professor Maria Cristina Messa, former Minister of Universities and Research, and Ezio Raviola from the Management Committee of Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo.

Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, which has always been attentive to the needs of the community, focuses its commitment in the health sector on interventions that will have a measurable impact on the efficiency of the system and the quality of the care provided.

In order to achieve these aims, the Foundation promotes strategic partnerships with other entities, including foundations, associations, and charities, which already operate in support of the local health system.

Strategic partners who – through research, fundraising, and awareness-raising activities – play a crucial role in mobilising resources and empowering citizens.

The Turin-based philanthropic organisation views this collaborative model as a replicable approach that can multiply available resources, enhance the fundraising capacity of partners, and amplify the impact of interventions on the ground.

An example of the effectiveness of this approach is the Hospeedal call for proposals, which supported interventions amounting to a total of 1.575 billion euros, making a significant contribution to strengthening the regional health system.

In the same context is the support provided to the ASSO Association for its transformation into a Foundation, formalised with the signing of the memorandum of association at the Mondovì Hospital on 28 October.

These are concrete actions that go beyond mere financial contributions and demonstrate Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo’s genuine commitment to promoting a health system that is more efficient and better aligned with the needs of the community.
