Working with Fondazione Cariplo to support Renewable Energy Communities

Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo and Fondazione Cariplo share a common objective: to encourage the birth of Renewable Energy Communities (RECs) with a social impact in the regions of Piedmont and Lombardy. To achieve this objective, they intend to launch a series of capacity building and technical support activities to help municipalities and Third Sector Organisations with the design work.As part of the energy transition process, which is increasingly essential, RECs (Renewal Energy Communities) are an innovative model that turns citizens and institutions into protagonists, giving them the option to use the generation and sharing of renewable energy to combat climate change, as an instrument of energy democracy and social solidarity and as a virtuous example of development based on cooperation rather than competition.Precisely to underline the urgency of achieving these goals, on 11th April, at 3.00 p.m. the two foundations will present their shared aims during a dedicated webinar. The speakers on the day will include Alberto Anfossi, Secretary General of Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo and Sergio Urbani, Director General of Fondazione Cariplo. To attend the webinar, please register using this link.Furthermore, the two Foundations, albeit with different philanthropic tools, have jointly devised a dissemination and information programme on RECs, making an “Info Package” available free of charge for in-depth analysis of their technical, legal and social aspects. This material will soon be available on the Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation website as well as the Cariplo Foundation website. On 12th April, at 11:00 a.m., Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo will instead be running a webinar for organisations operating in Piedmont to explore the operations and possibilities offered by the “Sinergie” initiative launched today, which aims to devise a series of useful actions to support Third Sector Organisations and Public Bodies interested in developing Renewable Energy Communities with social impact on their local area. To attend the webinar arranged to present Sinergie, please register using this link.An initiative that is a major experiment in guiding and raising awareness among organisations of the opportunities made available by the national recovery and resilience plan and other funding opportunities. For further details about “Sinergie”, see the full text.
