During the ceremony held on 13th July, the Piedmont Region and the Regional Council officially thanked the 38 doctors and nurses of the “Henry Revee Brigade” of Cuba for the dedication and high professionalism shown for 100 days in the care of Piedmontese COVID-19 patients admitted to the temporary hospital set up at Officine Grandi Riparazioni di Torino with the support of Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo. As a sign of gratitude, the team of professionals was awarded the civil honours especially created by the Regional Council for all health workers involved in the COVID emergency.

The ceremony was held in the presence of the Cuban ambassador to Italy José Carlos Rodriguez Ruiz, who said he was “very moved by the recognition of the efforts made to bring health to the people of Piedmont” and stressed that “the pandemic has taught us that the world is fragile and that at difficult times like these there is a need for brotherhood and cooperation between people. At OGR we have built a model union for the good of all human beings which has become known all over the world”.

To highlight the fantastic teamwork, in both public and private settings, Piedmont Region commemorative plaques were handed out during the ceremony to all the bodies and organisations – including Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo – which contributed to setting up the OGR COVID hospital and to the work of the Henry Reeve Brigade.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row]
