The goal is to support the growth of startups emerging from research labs focused on the aerospace sector. With this funding, Galaxia has successfully closed its fundraising round, bringing the total to €30 million.

Galaxia plans to invest across various areas of aerospace applications, from upstream solutions such as thrusters, rockets, satellites, sub-orbital spacecraft, telemetry systems, and mission control technologies, to downstream solutions like remote sensing for Earth observation, satellite communications, navigation technologies and specialised satellite navigation systems. The initiative also focuses on enabling technologies and the transfer of key technologies between space and Earth (both spin-outs and spin-ins).

In addition to Obloo Ventures, Galaxia is supported by the Polytechnic of Turin and Sapienza University of Rome as scientific promoters, along with other top Italian universities, including the University of Padua and the Polytechnic of Bari. The European Space Agency (ESA) and the Italian Space Agency (ASI) also play a key role as Technical Advisors.

To date, the Cluster has successfully completed 16 proof-of-concept projects and made 16 seed investments, totalling around €18 million.

Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center, a company within the Intesa Sanpaolo Group dedicated to fostering innovation and overseeing Neva SGR, is a Partner in Galaxia. It provides expertise, resources and its extensive network to support the identification and growth of promising start-ups. Through its involvement, Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center offers these start-ups tailored growth opportunities, access to international networks, valuable market insights and connections with the Group’s aerospace sector clients.

Aerospace is a key driver of development for Turin, thanks to its strong academic and industrial foundations. These are supported by a variety of institutional initiatives, conferences, start-up acceleration programmes and sector-specific projects funded within the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP). Through their investment, Intesa Sanpaolo, via Neva SGR and Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center, and Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, major investors in the Piedmont capital, acknowledge Galaxia’s pivotal role in enabling the aerospace ecosystem.

“The aerospace sector is one of the main industrial pillars for the Piedmont region and a key driver for Turin’s ecosystem.” “Galaxia serves as an important hub for kickstarting the technology transfer process and extracting value from research outcomes, fostering a development model aligned with the objectives of the 2025-2028 Strategic Plan of Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, where taking risks becomes a catalyst for accelerating new projects and innovative solutions.” – says Alberto Anfossi, Secretary General of Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo.

“To support the growth of Italy’s industrial and technological ecosystem, we facilitate access to both Italian and international capital, offer mentorship and expertise and foster synergies with major organisations such as CDP Venture Capital, companies and institutions,” says Mario Costantini, CEO and General Manager of Neva SGR. “Together with Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center, which is a full partner in our SEI Fund, we have decided to invest in Galaxia to help support Italy’s promising aerospace sector, an area we consider crucial for the country’s development. This new investment adds to others we’ve made through our Neva First funds in key Italian aerospace companies.”

“We’re thrilled to have Intesa Sanpaolo and Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo as primary investors in Galaxia,” comments Claudia Pingue, Senior Partner and Head of CDP Venture Capital’s Technology Transfer Fund. “Thanks to their support, Galaxia has reached its funding target of €30 million in less than two years since its launch. This achievement, coupled with the involvement of such prominent investors, is a source of great pride and highlights the growing importance of the technology transfer process in Italy’s industrial development, particularly Galaxia’s role in advancing the aerospace sector.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”sdg-list-wrap”][vc_column][vc_raw_html]JTVCU2V6aW9uZV9Eb2N1bWVudGklNUQ=[/vc_raw_html][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row]
