Four innovative areas for vascular diagnostics mark a major step forward not only for the North Turin hospital complex, which can now extend its offering, but for Piedmont’s health system as a whole, which now benefits from a top-quality diagnostic service for blood vessels.

The inauguration was an especially welcome development for Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, which provided €1,840,000 of economic support for the supply and installation of digital angiography systems, under its Healthcare equipment call for proposals 2019-2020.

The inauguration was attended by Luigi Genesio Icardi, Piedmont Regional Council’s Head of Health; Raffaele Ruberto, Prefect of Turin; Carlo Picco, Director General of the City of Turin local health authority, and Paolo Mulassano, Head of the Planet Goal at Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, who explained:

“Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo’s commitment to technological innovation in the health arena gives priority to projects that help meet the needs of the community, by supporting interventions that have a measurable impact on the efficiency of the health system and the quality of care it provides. Between 2015 and 2019, we provided over €11.8 million of funding for this sector in the Turin area, plus a further €11 million under the Health Equipment Call for Proposals launched in 2019, which supported 15 interventions for local health authorities in the Metropolitan City of Turin, the impacts of which we are starting to monitor. We are now proud to present our intervention for San Giovanni Bosco Hospital, to which we allocated over €1,800,000 for the building of digital angiography rooms. We hope these will make a major contribution to reducing waiting lists and raising the hospital’s profile as a specialist skills centre for the treatment of complex health conditions.”

The new Multidisciplinary Area for Haemodynamic Cardiology and Interventional Radiology comprises 4 rooms equipped with PHILIPS Azurion Clarity angiography systems, instruments for integrated endovascular diagnosis and treatment and state-of-the-art technologies for merging multimodality radiology and ultrasound images.
It also includes a large area for periprocedural patient monitoring, with 5 beds.
