The event provides a valuable platform for fostering dialogue between civil society and institutions, with the goal of building a fairer and more dignified future for all. Following previous annual events held in Bologna, Florence, Padua and Milan, this year’s meeting in Turin will shine the spotlight on Africa, a continent which is facing its challenges with courage and taking control of its own destiny.
Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo (FCSP) is a key supporter of the event. As underlined by Marco Gilli, President of FCSP: “Working collaboratively with communities to empower individuals in vulnerable situations, facilitating their access to opportunities and rights through territorial partnerships between the Global North and South, is at the heart of Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo’s support for Cuamm’s initiatives. This approach promotes the development of skills and knowledge necessary for sustainable development, utilising multidimensional strategies and systemic intervention models that engage an increasingly diverse array of stakeholders. Our commitment, which is particularly focused on ensuring access to healthcare for mothers and newborns across various African nations, has been strengthened in partnership with other Italian foundations since 2012. We aim to continue fostering conditions that allow all individuals to access care and become active participants in shaping their own futures.”
Doctors with Africa Cuamm operates in 9 African and Sub-Saharan countries, with a particular focus on the health of mothers and children. Through the “Mothers and children first” programme, the outcomes of which will be presented during the event, the organisation aims to reduce maternal and child mortality by ensuring quality healthcare and investing in the training of local health personnel.
The Turin Meeting is a vital opportunity to enhance dialogue and collaborative efforts in support of health and sustainable development. It aims to engage an increasing number of stakeholders and foster a collective commitment to a fairer and more sustainable future.
