Municipality of Genoa and Compagnia di San Paolo sign a framework protocol to establish social, educational and cultural development programmes in Genoa.
The Municipality of Genoa and Compagnia di San Paolo signed a protocol today to establish social, educational and cultural development programmes in Genoa for 2019 and 2020; the Mayor of Genoa Marco Bucci, the Chair of Compagnia di San Paolo Francesco Profumo and the Secretary General Alberto Anfossi were present.
Compagnia di San Paolo has long been committed to intervening in the social and cultural sphere in favour of the population and territory of Genoa. Recent years have seen an ever more profitable collaboration between the Municipality of Genoa and Compagnia. This has led, among other things, to the establishment of complex programmes such as requalifying and valorising Genoa’s historical centre (in particular the Strada Nuova museum district ), to its financial involvement in the Palazzo Ducale Fondazione per la Cultura, as well as supporting the main city theatres, which has led to the birth of Teatro Nazionale di Genova from the merger of Teatro Stabile and Archivolto.
Compagnia’s presence in the Genoa area is becoming increasingly deeply-rooted. In order to contextualize as a whole the actions supported, the decision was made to sign a framework protocol to establish actions for 2019 and 2020. This will make the ongoing collaboration more effective and allow innovative experiments to take place in the social and cultural field through shared planning, taking advantage of Compagnia’s experience in various areas and in different cities.
In the area of cultural activity and tourist attraction specific actions will be developed to support cultural and museum attractors, actions to support exhibition projects and festivals and restoration and refunctionalisation projects.
The Turinese Foundation and Municipality of Genoa will be working together to contrast economic and social frailty, in particular through actions to support home-care, actions to support equal opportunities and active labour policies, emergency initiatives in favour of the victims of the Morandi bridge collapse.
“Important interventions for the social, educational and cultural development of the city for 2019 – 2020. This – says the Mayor of Genoa Marco Bucci – is the immediate and solid aim we are pursuing with the support of Compagnia di San Paolo. The Genoa of the future must be better to live in for its inhabitants, but also more attractive for tourists and visitors. As a Civic Administration we are working towards this aim, but the contribution and support of other bodies and institutions is essential.
“This framework protocol between the Municipality of Genoa and Compagnia di San Paolo – which we appreciate and thank for its constant commitment to our territory – is further confirmation that where there’s a will to collaborate towards a shared goal to benefit the city there’s a way to get results: soon and efficiently.”
“By signing this protocol today – states Francesco Profumo, Chair of Compagnia di San Paolo – we mean to define new ways to intervene in close collaboration with the Municipality of Genoa: our challenge is to bring about strategic plans for the territory. In particular, Compagnia’s intervention features two important missions: the first aims to boost the city’s tourist and cultural offer; the second has a social goal to better overcome emergencies and make Genoa more and more inclusive and supportive”.
