Global Issues

A call born of the collaboration between some of Europe’s main foundations funding research.

Together with Volkswagen Stiftung, Riksbankens Jubileumsfond, and The Wallenberg Foundations Compagnia di San Paolo is promoting the call Global Issues – Integrating Different Perspectives on Heritage and Change, part of the international collaboration between  Europe’s main foundations funding research which aims to stimulate far-reaching collaborations within and without Europe into generating new  new knowledge in issues of global relevance.

Global Issues – Integrating Different Perspectives on Heritage and Change it is an invitation to present research projects that deal with the tangible and intangible cultural heritage, and the processes of change and transformation that characterise it. Wars, terrorism, climate change, tourism, digitalization are just a few examples of a wide range of processes that influence and potentially threaten the world's cultural heritage.

The call is open to research groups of up to five partners, at least one of which must be based in Italy, Germany or Sweden. European-only consortia are not allowed.

Projects can last up to 4 years and maximum funding per project is € 1,500.

The selection process is divided into two phases. In the first phase, which will end at 12.00 (CET) on March 25th 2020, it will be possible to present a pre-proposal (for more details, see the paragraph ‘Application Checklist’ in the call attached and the FAQs). A group of international experts will identify a range of groups that will be invited to present a full proposal. The candidates selected will be invited to present their project to the experts in charge of the evaluation.

All documentation must be presented exclusively in English.

Applications must be submitted using the Volkswagen Stiftung online application system only.
