2019 Contemporary week

Compagnia di San Paolo renews its commitment to contemporary events.

Compagnia di San Paolo supports contemporary culture and languages, recognising not only the great cultural value but also the social and economic one, especially for the city of Turin. This commitment has seen the foundation’s role evolve from supporter of local museum institutions and cultural events to partner and activator of innovative processes for the entire system of contemporary culture in Turin as  a production chain that can raise the area’s attractiveness for different targets.

In this framework, in 2019 Compagnia renews its commitment to events dedicated to contemporary  culture taking place in Turin during Artissima and which raise Turin’s profile regarding its scene and cultural offerings in autumn.

In particular, Compagnia confirms its  support in favour of Artissima by supporting ARTISSIMA DIGITAL, the fair’s digital innovation and development project which sets out to form an ecosystem that can consolidate the event’s identity, reach new interlocutors and enhance local skills and resources in contemporary art and culture.

The commitment to CLUB TO CLUB is also renewed. This avant-pop festival is  one of the most appreciated in Europe, focusing on the transverse and permeable nature of contemporary expressive languages, proposing stars of the electronic music scene and a consolidated organisational competence which is active 365 days a year on the territory.

In accordance with its wish to promote initiatives that favour creativity, the creation and enhancement of national and international networks, knowledge, exchange and comparison of creative experiences in the various genres of contemporary culture, Compagnia confirms its support to The Others, a privileged observatory on international creativity that offers experimental and nonconventional culture, to Paratissima,  dedicated to emerging artists and creatives who are not part of the official art circuit yet and already known artists who want to relate to a dynamic environment with a wider social context, and to Flashback’s cultural programme, the fair that proposes an innovative interpretation in contemporary art both in the design of selected galleries and in its thought-provoking side initiatives.. Furthermore, as of this year it is also being used for the Flat art book fair at Nuvola Lavazza from 1 November.

Compagnia also confirms it support to NEXST, the festival dedicated to contemporary research areas which this year focuses on TRASLOCO, an international exchange project with the French city Marseilles, and the live programme DAMA, an independent fair that blends contemporary art with the Baroque backdrops of Palazzo Coardi di Carpeneto e Palazzo Birago di Borgaro.

In line with the commitment to the entire system of contemporary culture,  Compagnia also supports the ongoing CRRI exhibition at Castello di Rivoli – Museo di Arte Contemporanea and those at Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, at PAV, at Camera – Centro Italiano per la Fotografia, at Fondazione Merz, as well as the residenza Cripta 747 project that is presenting works by Lee Fraser and Hilary Galbreaith, winners of the third edition of the  Residency Programme, as of 30 October.

The ORA! projects are also the stars of this week of events: on Monday 28th at 5.30pm at Circolo dei Lettori Datapoiesis - the project promoted by Associazione Sineglossa - is proposing as part of the initiative “OBIETTIVO Torino. Capire la Datapoiesis”, a conference and an exhibition at the gallery WILD MAZZINI (via Mazzini 33); on 31 October at 8.30pm at The Others Assocazione Coorpi presents the final performance of Re-Flow; and a conversation with Metahaven and Leonardo Dellanoce as part of the project Comp(h)ost by Associazione Atitolo is on 2 November at 6pm at Castello di Rivoli.
