The Agreement provides the University with grants from the Compagnia for three years (2013-2015) for a total of €21 million for projects in three macro-areas: Research; Didactics and Higher Education; Management Innovation and across the board interventions.

Research

As part of the goal of making universities more competitive in getting research funds, the main investment line in this macro-area involves strengthening infrastructures and instruments that are functional to research at the University, in a necessary aim at rationalization and sharing with others.

The second sphere of action gives continuity to competitive calls for proposals for research projects. It was set up between 2010 and 2012 and its target was to promote the competitiveness of young researchers in accessing European funds. The subjects and the design of the calls for proposals echo forecasts of the Horison 2020 Framework Programme, with particular reference to the core issues Excellent Science (ERC) and Societal Challenges.

Furthermore, in view of the positive results of “ 2020 Researchers: Train to Move ”, presented by the University of Torino as an enforcement of the internationalization of the 2010-2012 Agreement and received positively by the European Commission, plans are underway to develop a similar programme of mobility for post doctorate researchers together with other universities and enterprises.

Didactics and Higher Education

In the above fields resources are destined to research doctorates and to the Scuola di Studi Superiori, paying attention to the university processes of internationalization.

Also to be remembered is the experience of the University Hub for students who are inmates of the “Lorusso e Cutugno” Prison in Torino, supported for some time now by the Compagnia.

Management innovation and across the board interventions

The initiatives in this area of intervention are particularly focused on the obsolescence of part of management processes and on the communication.

From 2013 to 2015 “Innovation, Communication and Competitiveness” project includes four actions: joint university budget elaboration; process re-engineering works ; development of “ Social Reference ” on the opportunities of research funding; setting up the university hackathon (#hackUniTO) for the design and realisation of solutions, services and crowdsourcing devices.

Add to this the attention for selective purchasing of bibliographic material  on line and the support for U-GOV-CINECA project, for the renewal of the accounting system with a logic of single financial statement, budget and economic/assets accounting.
