The Biotechnology Foundation of Turin, which was founded by the Piedmont Region, the Aosta Valley Region, the Compagnia di San Paolo and Fiat S.p.A, is dedicated to disseminating knowledge, stimulating education and supporting research in the field of biotechnology with regard to health services, agriculture, nutrition, environmental protection and conservation and the protection and conservation of cultural heritage. The Foundation pursues its objectives by organising national and international conventions, holding local educational courses, seminars and conferences, promoting research and distributing printed and multimedia publications.
Since 1997, the Compagnia has supported the activities of the Biotechnology Foundation with contributions of over 1.6 million Euros, in part through its membership fees and in part through the financing of didactic laboratories, thus consolidating its commitment to supporting centres and laboratories of scientific research in and around Turin.
