In 2004 the Compagnia di San Paolo co-founded the Egyptian Museum Foundation (Fondazione Museo delle Antichità Egizie), the first example of  the constitution by the Italian State of a private museum management body. The Compagnia di San Paolo has allocated approximately € 26 million to the enhancement, renovation and expansion of what is one of the most important museums in Turin, a demonstration of its recognition of the important role played by Egyptology. In particular, it has contributed, among other things, to the setting up of the statue room curated by Dante Ferretti, to the design of the new museum and to the restoration activities which will return the Egyptian Museum (Museo delle Antichità Egizie) to a full working regime. Work completion is expected in 2015, in time for Expo in Milan.
