There are two main problems to deal with: growing income inequality and worsening environment issues. To address them, forces and skills need to be combined to develop a new economic model which takes into account the current situation and leads financial institutions and large companies to adopt sustainable business models, an urgent aim that is today supported even by the most strenuous advocates of the free market, such as the large US private equity funds. They too are now asking the companies they invest in to pursue social and environmental objectives.
