To achieve this, we apply the three key principles of philanthropy<\/strong>. We translate trust<\/strong> into operational terms, to recognise organisations\u2019 capacity to develop effective projects. We assume the risk<\/strong> of investing in projects that have the potential to open up major opportunities, even if the outcomes of those projects are uncertain. Calls for proposals, guidelines and individual closing dates<\/h3>\n

Each of the 14 missions <\/strong>provides resources in a range of ways. Particular use is made of competitive calls for proposals<\/strong> to select projects that meet specific needs, according to clearly defined rules and time-frames. Other tools include guidelines<\/strong>, which offer broader guidance and often operate on a \u201chelp-desk\u201d basis, and thematic calls for proposals<\/strong>, aimed at attracting expressions of interest and projects in targeted fields of intervention. Ordinary grants<\/h3>\n

Ordinary grants<\/strong> are awarded in response to general grant applications, which are deemed valid for certain purposes and projects, even though they do not fall into any of the highlighted categories<\/strong> and do not have any dedicated forms. Asset management is aimed at generating a planned and sustainable flow of resources<\/strong> for the geographical coverage area, through strategic allocation of resources, risk management and constant monitoring.
