Meanwhile, other groups of the population who had previously been able to maintain at least a precarious balance between poverty and adequate living conditions, are now also facing severe difficulties. There is therefore a clear risk that the current situation could cause a dramatic increase in social and educational inequality.\u00a0 By organising the &#8220;Together, everything will be fine&#8221; call for proposals, Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo aims to help mitigate the social hardships in Piedmont and Liguria caused by the spread of COVID-19 and the restrictions arising from the measures to combat and contain it. The response we received from the local area is significant, partly because of the numbers involved \u2013 a total of 521 proposals were submitted \u2013 and partly because it shows a clear sign of the area\u2019s vitality, resilience and willingness to act in solidarity with the community and take care of its most vulnerable members. This outpouring of welfare efforts could also lay the foundations for post-emergency and medium term action.
