el_class=&#8221;page-content&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221; el_class=&#8221;text&#8221;]The technological refurbishment of the operating theatres at the Liver Transplant Centre of Molinette Hospital, part of Turin\u2019s Citt\u00e0 della Salute e della Scienza healthcare hub (directed by Professor Renato Romagnoli), has now been completed. The \u20ac230,000 project was supported by Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo with the involvement and at the request of AITF \u2013 the Italian Association of Liver Transplant Recipients.<\/p>\n<p>The new TEGRIS system, with its range of highly innovative features, will enable new research paths, improve surgical strategies and enhance training and education. The system enables live surgical images to be captured and transmitted in real time to multiple screens throughout the operating theatre, allowing all members of the surgical team and observers to follow delicate transplant procedures. It also enables the recording and streaming of data, as well as integration with the hospital\u2019s laboratory and radiology information systems and with endoscopy and minimally invasive surgery systems, creating a unique all-in-one solution.<\/p>\n<p>As a nationally and internationally recognised centre of excellence, the Turin Liver Transplant Centre will thus be able to continue providing advanced training in liver transplantation and highly complex hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery. The Centre is also approaching the milestone of 4,500 liver transplants since its foundation in 1990 by Professor Mauro Salizzoni. It currently holds the all-time Italian record for the number of liver transplants performed in a single calendar year, with 194 procedures carried out in 2025. The survival outcomes certified by the Italian National Transplant Centre also place the Turin Centre at the forefront, with one- and five-year post-transplant survival rates of over 95% and 87%, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is another important step forward since I took up my position. Clinical care, research, innovation, safety and teaching are the cornerstones of this technological refurbishment of the operating theatres at the Liver Transplant Centre. \u201cIn a facility like the Molinette, which dates back to 1935, we need to ensure that our professionals, who are recognised nationally and internationally as leaders in the field of liver transplantation, have the best possible conditions in which to work. \u201cFor this reason, we would like to thank Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo and AITF for their contribution,\u201d says Livio Tranchida, General Director of Citt\u00e0 della Salute e della Scienza di Torino.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith this project, Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo is helping to strengthen an internationally recognised centre of excellence, where clinical care, research and training are closely integrated and mutually reinforcing, creating value for the healthcare system as a whole.\u201d Supporting projects such as this means helping to advance medical practice, recognising the work of healthcare professionals and ensuring that patients have access to increasingly effective and safe treatment.
