We seek innovative, long-lasting solutions, leveraging philanthropic resources to drive transformation for the common good, while staying agile enough to respond to shifting contexts and anticipate global trends.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo\u2019s Strategic Plan for the next four years is designed to have a significant impact on the North-West of Italy, taking into account the current geopolitical and geo-economic landscape both nationally and internationally. The plan specifically addresses critical issues such as the climate crisis, environmental degradation, the rapid pace of technological transition, poverty, inequality and the challenges of demographic decline.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the Strategic Plan draws inspiration from the best practices of leading international foundations and incorporates key principles of modern philanthropy: trust, risk and flexibility.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo renews its commitment to the region, acknowledging and strengthening its supporting role for the common good, working alongside civil society organisations and public institutions with whom it has built a foundation of trust over the years. We aim to define objectives and priorities together, focusing on the outcomes and impact of our projects, while simplifying our administrative processes by offering transparent, structured, and accessible funding tools,&#8221; <\/em>says <strong>Alberto Anfossi<\/strong>, Secretary General of the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation &#8211; \u201c<em>We also recognise our responsibility to drive innovation by managing high-risk, high-potential initiatives, and by expanding the tools, both financial and non-financial, that support the sustainable development of the region, including disbursements, capacity building, and mission-related investments. Our goal is to ensure that our resources are &#8216;flexible&#8217; and quickly accessible.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;We strive to improve ourselves every day, and to achieve this, we\u2019ve identified four key cross-cutting approaches,\u201d <\/em>says <strong>Marco Gilli<\/strong>.<em> &#8220;These include mobilising additional resources by promoting joint actions and investments with both public and private partners, including international ones; continuously strengthening our role as a &#8216;learning organisation&#8217;; reviewing our policies to amplify impact and scale initiatives; and attracting skills, talent, philanthropic projects, and investments, particularly on an international level. In this way, the Foundation aims to further solidify its role as an agent of transformation and innovation.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo plans <strong>to allocate \u20ac1 billion to philanthropic activities over the next four years<\/strong>, with \u20ac700m earmarked for systemic change and impact projects, \u20ac160m for the Foundation\u2019s philanthropic initiatives and major direct projects, such as the restoration and re-purposing of the Cavallerizza Reale complex in Turin, and \u20ac140m for National Funds, Philanthropic Funds and future projects.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo&#8217;s economic planning is designed for long-term sustainability. It operates on the principle of \u2018two speeds.\u2019 <\/em>The first speed involves annual and multi-year planning, translating the principles of Confidence, Risk and Flexibility into actions that drive innovation and systemic change. This approach aims to tackle the root causes of issues, strengthening the social and economic fabric through partnerships with entities, institutions and social actors. The second focuses on developing a select number of medium- to large-scale projects, with the goal of having a significant impact on the ecosystem and achieving visibility beyond just the local level,\u201d says <strong>Alberto Anfossi.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Under the <strong>Framework Protocol with the Municipality of Genoa<\/strong>, a total of <strong>\u20ac28 million has been earmarked for the 2024\u20132027 period to support cultural, social and environmental initiatives<\/strong>. In <strong>2024<\/strong> alone, Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo allocated <strong>\u20ac7 million to the city of Genoa<\/strong>, funding a broad spectrum of projects that reflect the Foundation\u2019s integrated and multidimensional approach. Among these is the <strong>Articolo+1<\/strong> programme, which supports <strong>active policy initiatives aimed at helping unemployed young people<\/strong> who face barriers to entering the job market. The Framework Protocol with the Municipality also includes a strong focus on special projects related to urban regeneration and public space enhancement. One key example is the<strong> restoration of the Albergo dei Poveri<\/strong>, a major initiative with <strong>an investment of \u20ac1.77 million<\/strong>, aimed at transforming the site into <strong>a new cultural production hub<\/strong> for the city of Genoa.<\/p>\n<p>In <strong>2024<\/strong>, funding from Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo <strong>grew across all provinces of Liguria<\/strong>, with <strong>particularly notable increases in the Imperia area and, most significantly, in Savona<\/strong>. In fact, Savona saw funding increase more than <strong>six-fold compared to the previous year<\/strong>, largely thanks to new resources dedicated to the <strong>Citt\u00e0 dell\u2019Educazione initiative<\/strong> active in Turin, Genoa, Vercelli and Savona, which places education and learning at the core of urban transformation strategies.<\/p>\n<p>In line with its 2025-2028 Plan, Fondazione Compagna di San Paolo has restructured its university agreements into <strong>strategic partnerships<\/strong> designed to align more closely with rectoral mandates, streamline resource management and enhance the impact of initiatives, promoting interdisciplinary collaborations among universities in the region. A total of<strong> \u20ac1.2 million<\/strong> has been allocated <strong>to the University of Genoa for the 2025\u20132026 period<\/strong>, to support the development of one or two high-impact projects of particular relevance to the University. Additional funding may be made available for strategic initiatives, such as support for Proof of Concept activities.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the 2025\u20132028 Strategic Plan, Fondazione Compagna di San Paolo aims to support <strong>large-scale projects and initiatives where it can play a proactive and leading role<\/strong>. Among these is the study and potential development of the <strong>Fabbrica delle idee<\/strong> [Factory of Ideas] a multifunctional space designed to foster innovation through collaboration, idea exchange and co-creation. The organisation has also launched <strong>Nova Connect<\/strong>, an initiative aimed at strengthening Genoa\u2019s innovation ecosystem by mapping key stakeholders, enhancing integrated communication and organising strategic events to facilitate collaboration and growth.<\/p>\n<p>With this new Plan, FCSP reaffirms its leadership in local development, with a forward-looking approach and a concrete commitment to sustainability and equity.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Assets of Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo (FCSP) <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The assets of FCSP as at 31\/12\/2024, valued at current market prices, amounted to \u20ac10.1bn. The strategic portfolio was worth around \u20ac5.2bn, including the shareholding in Intesa Sanpaolo of \u20ac4.5bn. The diversified portfolio was worth around \u20ac4.8bn.<\/p>\n<p>The value of assets as ot 10\/04\/2025 is \u20ac10.1bn.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Amount awarded 2025 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For the financial year 2025, interventions for institutional purposes, in line with resolutions to be adopted, are estimated to total \u20ac175m.
