Turin, 22 May 2023 – Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, Fondazione Cariplo and Fondazione CRT have each committed to allocating 300,000 euros, for a total of a further 900,000 euros, to the areas affected by the recent flood.

At the meeting held on 16 May, the Executive Committee of ACRI had approved an extraordinary contribution of 1.5 million euros for the affected population, drawn from the National Fund for Common Initiatives, for the purpose of coordinating the use of resources, preparing a specific intervention plan, in order to offer an initial response to the needs of the population.

“In situations like these, solidarity is important, fundamental. We want to support the flooded population in sharing this dramatic event and give our concrete support. It is good to always act in a coordinated way. A few days ago, through ACRI, we agreed to the proposal to allocate 1.5 million euros for aid. Now, together with the other Turin-based foundations, we have decided to supplement this. The facts are showing that, unfortunately, the consequences of the flood are going beyond last week’s initial budgets. The people of Emilia-Romagna are demonstrating a commendable ability to react, but we know how important it is, at times like these, to find the strength to react, not to feel left alone” said the President of the Cariplo Foundation, Giovanni Azzone.

“We feel very close to the people affected by the floods of recent days.  We agreed, through Acri, to the proposal to allocate 1.5 million euros to respond to the immediate challenge: the emergency.  Emergency intervention, which is by its nature essential and rapid, must now be associated with medium-long term actions. We have therefore approved a further important contribution to system-wide actions and to plan and building the future starting today, working for the common good with people at the centre of our thoughts and plans” said Francesco Profumo, Chair of Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo.

“It is important that the life of the communities marked by the tragedy of the flood can return to normal soon, by quickly rebuilding the areas involved and repairing a social fabric that is giving great proof of strength, courage and desire to be reborn – said the Chairman of Fondazione CRT Fabrizio Palenzona –. Our contribution is intended to be a concrete sign of solidarity and closeness to the populations of Emilia-Romagna, with the awareness of how urgent it is to take action to safeguard the environment and prevent similar risks“.
