In the past few days, the centre has been taking bookings for Covid jabs for children aged 5-11.

Over 4,400 parents living in the catchment area of the City of Turin local health trust have signed up to get their children vaccinated.

The official opening of the FCSP Children’s Vaccination Centre took place today. The event was attended by Alberto Cirio, Chair of Piedmont Regional Council; Francesco Profumo, Chair of Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo; Carlo Picco, Director General of the City of Turin Local Health Trust, and Giovanni Di Perri, Director of the Infectious Diseases Teaching Clinic at Amedeo di Savoia Hospital.

The Children’s Vaccination Centre is located at 112/A Via Gorizia, next to the FCSP Adults’ Vaccination Centre.

The new centre has a specifically child-friendly design, and young actors from the Casa del Teatro are on hand to bring a bit of a party atmosphere to the whole process. Their theatrical use of games, entertainment and storytelling will keep children happy as they wait their turn for vaccination.

Television programmes from Rai Yoyo, the children’s channel run by Italy’s national public broadcasting company, will also be shown in the waiting room, to keep children entertained.

“I would like to thank Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, which has stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the City of Turin local health trust ever since the outbreak of the Covid pandemic,”announced Carlo Picco, Director General of the City of Turin local health trust. “The FCSP Vaccination Centre has set itself the task of maximising the number of children it vaccinates, while also providing an enjoyable cultural experience. Vaccinations will be carried out from Monday to Friday, 5.00pm to 8.00pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays, so as not to get in the way of children’s school, sporting and leisure commitments.”

“The initiative we are unveiling today is in line with the various projects implemented by the Promoting Well-being Mission of our Planet Goal to support the regional health system. It also marks a continuation of the initiative to relaunch the centre set up in Via Gorizia in May 2021, which has enabled us to triple the number of vaccination stations we had previously,” explained Francesco Profumo, Chair of FCSP. “This step has become even more important over the past few months, now that we need to take responsibility for administering a third dose of vaccine.

We are delighted that Fondazione Teatro Ragazzi e Giovani Onlus and Consorzio Xké will be providing games and entertainment at the centre, to keep the children happy during their vaccination,” continued Francesco Profumo. “Offering vaccinations to the 5-11 age group underlines the inclusiveness of the measures taken by FCSP, which has always, and especially throughout this specific period, upheld its role as a “social investor” in support of individuals and local communities.”

Over the next few days, the FCSP Children’s Vaccination Centre will be receiving a visit from Giorgio Chiellini, captain of the Italian national football team and one of the star players at Juventus Football Club, who will be taking his daughter there for her first dose of the vaccination. Torino Football Club has also subscribed to the initiative.
