We offer local players the opportunity to access an international dimension, to ensure full understanding of the European and global framework in which the organisations they work for operate. It therefore shortens the gap between local context and international dynamics and yields a broader outlook on tackling the challenges and opportunities ahead of us.

Our work is divided into various areas of intervention.

The Fostering international opportunities mission contributes to achieving the following Sustainable Development Goals

SDG 16 Peace, justice, and strong institutions
SDG 17 Partnerships for the goals

We have dedicated the Fostering international opportunities mission, under the Planet Goal, to all international initiatives implemented by local players. We know it is important to provide them with strategic support to guide their work, within a global perspective, on the basis of a solid network of international bodies and research centres with which FCSP has been working for many years to promote support for policy-making and political debate.

Our approach to intervention is based on application, not research: this means that the activities we carry out derive from an actual need expressed at local level, rather than from a purely theoretical process. This approach also enables us to support policy-making activities and promote initiatives that generate a substantial return in terms of economics and relationship-building.

Our support enables international actors operating in Turin to have a direct impact on the local economy and generate significant intangible benefits. All the work of the Fostering international opportunities mission is supported by strong strategic partnerships: at the transatlantic level with the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF), at the European level with the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) and at the national level with Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI).

Mediterranean area

We promote cooperation and prosperity within the Mediterranean area, using research and initiatives aimed at the public and public decision-makers developed by Istituto per gli Studi di Politica Internazionale (ISPI) and Studi e Ricerche per il Mezzogiorno (SRM), of which FCSP is a supporting member.

European integration

We promote and relaunch the process of European integration, thanks to a research contribution and coordinated action with Centro Studi di Politica Internazionale (CeSPI) and Centro Studi sul Federalismo (CSF), a foundation co-governed by FCSP, the Universities of Turin, Pavia and Milan as founders, and the Polytechnic University of Turin as co-founder.

Transatlantic relations

We support and consolidate transatlantic relations, which represent a reference point in the international positioning of Italy as an overall system, thanks to the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) and our collaboration with the NATO Defense College Foundation, which works to foster the prosperity and cohesion of the Atlantic Alliance and its member states through training, awareness-raising and research on issues relating to transatlantic security.

New leadership in Turin and worldwide

Turin is an important hub for the emergence and development of new international leadership. This is why we work with the UN Hub in Turin through the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the United Nations System Staff College (UNSCC) and the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI). We also carry out important work with the Torino World Affairs Institute (T.WAI), an independent research institute specialising in global politics and security studies.
