A shared Senior Housing and Social Care model is born in Nichelino. This innovative social living project, the strength of which lies in bringing people together and giving them opportunities to socialise, has been accomplished with support from Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo

The town of Nichelino near Turin is now home to the Debouchè social housing project, created by Cooperativa Giuseppe Di Vittorio in collaboration with Cooperativa Crescere Insieme. This experimental social housing initiative has benefited from the support provided by Fondo Piemonte C.A.S.E. for the construction of environmentally sustainable social housing – under the management of REAM SGR S.p.A. – which was supported by Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo and Fondazione Sviluppo e Crescita CRT.

Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo has supported the initiative as an effective way of creating a habitat that integrates social and environmental needs to improve the quality of life of its residents.

The new Condominio Solidale Debouchè provides a distinctive response to contemporary welfare needs, offering a housing model focused on bringing people together and giving them opportunities to socialise.

The residential complex consists of 88 dwellings, designed according to ergonomic criteria for the well-being of fragile people and with a focus on environmental sustainability. Of these, 8 are reserved for self-sufficient elderly people, beneficiaries of the “Gold Project” provided by Cooperativa Crescere Insieme, which provides social welfare services intended to promote their autonomy and safety with support in the home, healthcare and social integration initiatives.

As underlined by Alberto Anfossi, Secretary General of Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo: “Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo is supporting Debouchè Condominio Solidale because of its interest in the living conditions of elderly people and in experimenting with innovative home care models and community welfare solutions that guarantee independent and safe living, as well as autonomy and opportunities for socialisation and social enhancement. In fact, Debouchè Condominio Solidale pays particular attention to vulnerable social groups, providing forms of mutual support between tenants with the support of professional operators, and is based on solidarity and mutual help between different generations to support the autonomy and active citizenship of the elderly”.

The aim of Condominio Solidale Debouchè is in fact to counteract the isolation of the elderly, offering an environment that allows them to stay in their own home and grow old in an intergenerational context.

The project is not limited to providing housing but aspires to create a model of community life. To this end, a common area has been created on the ground floor of the building to include a social concierge office, which plays a key role in the integration and daily support of all residents.

Condominio Solidale Debouchè is therefore a model of excellence in the welfare housing context, providing an effective response to emerging needs and contributing to the improvement of the social individual life of the elderly and the community as a whole.
