For several years, the Turin-based philanthropic organisation has translated sustainability into concrete daily actions. Every initiative, from digital communications to office management, is designed to reduce environmental impact, foster inclusion and encourage social responsibility, turning strategic principles into tangible results.
Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo (FCSP) views sustainability as a practical objective that is realised through consistent operational choices and everyday actions. Every tool, process and behaviour reflects a commitment to generating social and environmental impact, translating strategies and values into measurable and tangible results for society and the local community.
FCSP’s strategy is built on an Integrated Management System, certified to ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001, which brings together quality management, environmental protection and workplace safety within a rigorous methodological framework, ensuring that every intervention is consistent and systemic.
Its digital approach to sustainability is guided by the principles of Corporate Digital Responsibility, combining environmental efficiency with social inclusion.
Through the Good Ranking® protocol, the Foundation’s website has reduced CO₂-equivalent emissions by 30%, thanks to a “lighter” site in terms of code and content, which requires less energy to navigate.
The commitment to web accessibility elevates the digital dimension to a pillar of social equity, ensuring full access to information and services for people with visual, hearing, motor or cognitive disabilities.
From a Green UX perspective, accessible code is also inherently lighter and more efficient. By reducing unnecessary server loads, it helps minimise the overall digital energy footprint, demonstrating how positive sustainability practices can translate into concrete, measurable results.
FCSP also integrates sustainability into its operational management through the scientific monitoring of its carbon footprint. This process has made it possible to establish the 2024 emissions baseline, a crucial starting point for setting transparent decarbonisation targets aligned with the City of Turin’s goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2030.
A tangible outcome of this commitment is the decision to use exclusively 100% certified renewable electricity, which avoids the annual emission of more than 236 tCO₂e, significantly reducing the direct environmental impact of operations.
Sustainability is reflected in the daily practices of FCSP staff through the new Environmental Guidelines adopted by its employees.
These operational guidelines steer staff towards responsible mobility — encouraging carpooling and the use of public transport — as well as the efficient management of both physical and digital resources in the office , from optimising energy consumption to dematerialising processes.
For FCSP, the sum of these practices is helping to consolidate an internal culture of shared responsibility, where every daily choice contributes to generating real and lasting value for the organization and the local community.
Digital optimisation, carbon footprint measurement and active staff engagement amplify the Foundation’s social and environmental impact, demonstrating that sustainability is built day by day.
What begins as a strategy becomes a tangible path of continuous improvement, where everyday practices and responsible choices create real value for people and the local community.
