YEPP
Youth Empowerment Partnership Programme
Objectives
YEPP's goal is to improve the life of children and young people in areas of particular social complexity by promoting the joint work of the public and private sectors and of the third sector, and by involving young people in order to make them active members of their own community and society in general.
Target
Children and young people and, more broadly, the entire community in which they live.
Initiatives
The project initiatives are planned each year by the Support Groups on the basis of the needs of the individual areas and can include socio-cultural, economic, educational and environmental activities.
On an international level, the young people of the various participating cities can also make use of the EmpowerMediaNetwork, that lets them work with others in the critical reading and production of videos (shorts, documentaries, local news, video clips, etc.).
Partners
- On a local level, YEPP is sustained by Local Support Groups (LSG), composed of representatives of the public and private sectors, of the third sector, and young people. The work of each Support Group is facilitated by a Local Coordinator and is sustained by action research that is coordinated by a Local Researcher. Locally, the project is supported by the Compagnia di San Paolo in collaboration with a public partner.
- On an international level, the project is led by the following foundations:
Charles Stewart Mott Foundation (USA), Barrow Cadbury Trust (UK), Evens Foundation (Belgium), Fondation Bernheim (Belgium), Ford Foundation (USA), Freudenberg Stiftung (Germany), Irish Youth Foundation (Ireland) and by other international partners: Network of European Foundations for Innovative Cooperation (NEF) of Brussels, the Institute for Community Education of Berlin's Freie Universität (INA), and OCSE in Paris.
In countries with several active groups, like Italy, a transversal work group was created for the exchange of experiences amongst the operators in the various cities.
The international operational management of the project is entrusted to the International Resource Centre, run by INA, which also coordinates the educational and exchange activities amongst the local groups on an international level.
