Approdo: a safe haven for abused women in Turin.
Approdo is a network project by the Compagnia di San Paolo with Ufficio Pio, IPAB Casa Benefica and Associazione Volontarie del Telefono Rosa Onlus, in partnership with the medical staff of various Turin hospitals (San Giovanni Battista, Sant’Anna, Maria Vittoria, San Giovanni Bosco and Gradenigo). Approdo, that means “place of landing”, aims to assist women after they contact the hotline for abused women or they are admitted to the ER of partner hospitals. Since its inception in October 2008, 41 women have been assisted after moving to the safe house. Project Approdo also provides psychological and medical support, access to vocational and training courses and assistance in finding a new house.
