Welfare Policy
In the midst of a serious economic crisis that is of no short duration and is destined to affect the quality and lifestyle of large sections of the population, the Compagnia di San Paolo reasserts the guiding principles of its action in the social area and unites the efforts of all of its specialized branches: the operating body Ufficio Pio, the Fondi Speciali per il Volontariato (Special Funds for Voluntary Work), and the special projects, first of all the Progetto Sud.
The first purpose of the Compagnia’s action in the social area is to support, accompany, and create opportunities for people and families in difficulty, compensating for the deficiencies of social security cushions, in cooperation with public policy managers and with the beneficiaries of these initiatives, who are called to be in charge of re-planning their work life.
There are many areas of intervention in which the Compagnia will carry out its action: home assistance; self-sufficiency; education investment policies; attention to urban safety and security, and to the quality of public spaces; problems connected to parenthood; systemic territorial interventions; mental malaise (Il Bandolo project); prison population (Logos and Nomis projects); microcredit; youth empowerment (YEPP project – Youth Empowerment Partnership Programme); violence against women (“Approdo” project); listening to and taking care of victims of crimes (Dafne project); and transportation of oncological patients (“Tandem” project). Last, but not least, the Housing Program faces the ever more critical housing problem.

Managing the heritage of the Compagnia: the regulation implementation document The regulation implementation document enforcing asset management regulations, approved by the “Consiglio Generale” of the Compagnia di San Paolo on 21st June 2010, defines the Foundation’s investment policy regarding its operational and management aspects, establishing aims and responsibilities and practically enforcing the guidelines contained in the regulations act approved in 2009.
