The Compagnia supports research by promoting projects and interdisciplinary work groups from various universities, as well as research communities and institutions connected to the territory. The aims are to focus on wide-ranging themes, to optimize the relationship between basic and applied research, to connect local programmes with the European research agenda and to coordinate academic institutions, instrumental research bodies of the Compagnia and extra-university research.
Promoting new management models in research institutions, creating opportunities for young scholars and raising the quality of didactics is also part of this.
The European reference is an essential part of these goals: the alignment with European standards makes it possible to pinpoint strengths and weaknesses, open up perspectives and obtain extra financing.
Interventions in the Health sector come about thanks to project funding, especially used for acquiring innovative equipment for research, diagnostics and treatment and, on a lesser scale for the study of new management models in the Health sector.
From 2013 to 2016 interventions worthy of support must have specific requisites regarding territory – large hospitals in Turin and Piedmont – and themes, introducing management and organisational experiments connected to the introduction of innovative technologies or equipment. For this reason the Compagnia closely co-operates with the Department for Health Protection and Healthcare of the Piedmont Region.
An innovative multi-centre study for the treatment of rare and complex cancers such as soft tissue and bone sarcomas was presented on 30th March at the HuGeF Foundation.
On 28th February, for Rare Disease Day the Vivaldi Auditorium is holding an event to raise awareness about Syringomyelia and Chiari malformation.
