Torinodanza 2018 preview

The 2018 edition of the Torinodanza Festival, the first directed by Anna Cremonini, opens with an important novelty: a preview in May.

The 2018 edition of the Torinodanza Festival, the first directed by Anna Cremonini – who took over as Artistic Director of the festival on  1st  January 2018 - confirms its international vocation with great masters from all over the world and its attention to Italian excellence in order to offer spectators a cross-section of the best and most intense contemporary choreography. A programme that focuses on dance as a means of contamination, experimentation and dialogue of different languages that cross the different areas of contemporary creation, opening to an increasingly articulate audience, with a strong impact on younger groups.

The 2018 edition of the Festival (10th  September - 1st  December)opens with an important novelty: the preview of Torinodanza 2018, set up in collaboration with Teatro Stabile di Torino - Teatro Nazionale (National Theatre) and presenting  the national premiere (only Italian date - Fonderie Limone Moncalieri 17th  - 18th  May) of Betroffenheit, created by the choreographer Crystal Pite and the playwright and actor Jonathon Young, both Canadian.

This "preview" is the visiting card of the Festival’s new direction, which is committed to maintaining previous lines but also to broadening  boundaries, themes, protagonists, a prelude to the now usual autumn schedule of Torinodanza that inaugurates definitively in September. Choreographed and directed by Crystal Pite, Betroffenheit is an example of the fusion between contemporary dance and theatre that binds the Teatro Stabile’s prose season with the Festival preview.

The opening night of Torinodanza is scheduled at Teatro Regio for September 10th  with an evening in which two different shows will be presented by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Noetic and Icon, both produced by Göteborgs Operans Danskompani, the Opera’s dance company of the Swedish city of Göteborg which over the years has been building one of the most interesting repertoires in Europe.

The preview of Torinodanza 2018 is presented on March 15th  with Barbara Graffino taking part on behalf of Compagnia di San Paolo.

The press conference of Torinodanza 2018 is scheduled for 17th May 2018 at Teatro Carignano, Turin.
